Shelter in place lifted at Fort Stewart, incident contained

FORT STEWART, Ga. (WSAV) — Fort Stewart officials confirmed the shelter in place has been lifted amid an ongoing, isolated incident.

A Fort Stewart official confirmed to WSAV that the situation is contained, as of 5:25 p.m. and occurred on Ardennes Court. The official said it was not an active shooter, but rather an isolated incident reportedly resulting in someone barricaded inside a home.

There are no reported injuries at this time.

Fort Stewart’s Facebook page said, as of 5:25 p.m., “The shelter in place on Fort Stewart has been lifted. Individuals are asked to avoid the area of Bryan Village as there is still an ongoing incident in that area.”

Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly assisting with the ongoing situation.
